Salina Supply Company, Salina, Kansas Salina Supply CompanyWelcome to the Quotations Department! This department is run by Bob Bowser. We handle commercial plumbing quotations (quotes). Requests for quotes are received through several different methods. The first of every week the secretary scans the "Dodge Report" or Salina Chamber of Commerce's current jobs to be bid listing. She then calls the Chamber to either request plans for a job they have listed, or give them the pertinent information from the Dodge Report. The Chamber can then call the architect or engineer and request that the plans for that particular job be sent to them for us to borrow. The department also receives the Dodge Report online and can efficiently download any plans, specifications, and addenda that are available electronically. Often one of our seven outside salesmen OR a contractor will call and request a job to be bid. Regardless of how a request is received, important information such as the correct name and location of the job, the date it bids, and the name of the architect or engineer are needed to expedite the quotation process. The Department will then gather the information from the Specification (Spec) books and blueprints (plans) in order to determine what make, model and size of materials are specified for the job. The quote is prepared on a bid form utilizing stock numbers from our vast inventory or by enlisting the help of numerous factory representatives who fax or email us their pricing and availability on non-stock items. Upon completion, the quote is faxed to those contractors who wish to bid the job. The winning contractor calls the department requesting a set of submittals (shop drawings) to be compiled by the secretary. Submittals are manufacturer’s specification sheets, indexed line by line to the quotation, showing the exact material being quoted to the architect/engineer for use on the job. The submittals are then reviewed by the architect/engineer for approval. If the architect/engineer should request a change in what has been submitted, the department will issue a "re-submittal" on that change for the architect’s/engineer’s approval. Some contractors request Operations & Maintenance Manuals (O & M's) for a job near completion. This set of Manuals is more detailed, including specifications / installation instructions / warranty information on anything that has moving parts. A complete parts breakdown and troubleshooting guide are also included in this report. The contractor receives a set and delivers one to the architect/engineer and the project owner for use by the maintenance department on the completed project. The Quotations Department can also quote prices on one-at-a-time items requested by contractors. If there is anything the Quotations Department can do to help, please give them a call or email.
